[Informer] RuneScape Pets
To me, pets on RuneScape enhance the roleplaying feel of the game. Whilst it is very uncommon to see a rolpeplayer in RuneScape, this is not due to the player’s not being interested but because the game content itself is not as serious as environments in other games such as World of Warcraft where the player is led to believe that the world they are playing in is an actual universe instead of a game. I’m a fan of Roleplaying in games as I think it’s more enjoyable that way, and pets – although useless to the majority of players – would be great if put into the game in greater numbers. So, this blog post is a list of the pets I’d like to see in RuneScape and how I’d like to see them implemented.
Summoning introduced a lot of new, unique pets into the game but left them to a small variety which makes them appear they were stuck on at the end of development to make the skill appealing to those who don’t do combat very often. Therefore I wonder if new pets could be added to give that part of the skill more volume.
The following pets could be put into the game through holiday events. It’d be a welcome change to the silly clothes we get and it’d introduce pets to f2pers. Unlike those which follow this section of the article, these pets will not require a summoning level;
Easter;
Chicks -> Chickens/Roosters :: Fed with Fishing Bait.
*(An idea for this event would be that the Easter Celebrations in Falador require a load of chicks, but the chicks haven’t yet hatched. Therefore a player must take the eggs to a Pet Shop to have them hatched quickly.)
Bunny -> Rabbit :: Fed with cabbage or other vegatables.
*(I’m sure during the spring time Farmers would have trouble with little pests stealling all their crops. It’s not too hard to think that you could, while getting rid of the things, pick one up as a little prize.)
Chocolate Imps :: Fed with cooked meat.
*(Maybe force the entire population of RuneScape to do some Hunter by catching some magically enhanced chocolate imps running about Draynor)
Halloween;
Vampire Bat :: Fed with insects.
*(Get sent to a house to get rid of an infestation of bats as an exterminator. One becomes atatched to you and won’t leave you alone.)
Black Widow :: Fed with insects.
*(Get sent into a cave infested full of Black Widows to retrieve a NPC’s pickaxe. You get a spider as a reward… bleh)
Spectral Imp :: Doesn’t need feeding
*(Varrock becomes under attack by revenant implings. You get rid of them via a strange mechanism with traps them in a small rectangular box.)
Christmas;
Chick -> Dove :: Fed with fishing bait.
*(Mischevious new-born chicks have escaped the falador pens where they were being stored for Christmas have escaped and hidden around the city. You have to collect them all but find one extra.)
Reindeer :: Fed with vegetables.
*(As part of the celebrations in Varrock, reindeers have been bred and need raising to pull the sleigh around the town. When you’ve helped and the celebrations are over, you’re given a reindeer as a reward.)
Snowbaby -> Snowman :: Fed with ice cubes.
*(back to the snow realm where we were led last christmas to help out with the celebrations. While doing this, you save a Snowbaby from a rogue Snow-panther. It becomes your companion as thanks.)
And the rest, which could be implemented through summoning. Pets will be either caught with hunter, fishing, found with mining or as a monster drop;
Adamant Myte – Recieved through mining an Adamantite rock
Bug Swarm – Dropped by Harpie Bug Swarms
Copper Myte (A large, bug-like monster) – Recieved through mining a Copper rock
Chipmunk – Caught via Hunter
Elementals (Fire, Water, Earth and Air) – recieved via an egg, dropped by Elementals
Golden Myte – Recieved through mining a Gold rock
Iron Myte – Recieved through mining an Iron rock
Jackal – Caught via Hunter
Mithril Myte – Recieved through mining a Mithril rock
Morytania Leech – Dropped by Leeches.
Lemming – Caught via Hunter
Lobster – Caught via Fishing
Rune Myte – Recieved through mining a Rune rock
Sea Turtle – Caught via Fishing
Silver Myte – Recieved through mining a Silver rock
Snake – Caught via Hunter
Tin Myte – Recieved through mining a tin rock
I know, it’s highly unlikely we’ll get more pets because they are, typically, useless. The majority of players on RuneScape are obsessed with the idea that every new update needs to give them money, or an easier way to level up, and that’s the reason most updates are deemed crap nowadays. It’s sad, and we should be ashamed. ;-)
… Maybe I should write about something which would be seen as a good update next time?
That’s all for now,
Anubis.

I played runescape for two years, if only my boss knew how much time at work i spent playing that game ;|
